The Citroen Basalt is the fourth vehicle in the C-cubed programme for India. While it is related to the C3 Aircross SUV, there are noticeable differences between them. Even though it’s shorter, its overall length has gone up by 29mm because of a new rear design. Also, it’s 31mm narrower and 76mm shorter in height than the C3 Aircross.
Even though the Basalt has a slanted roof, it provides a larger boot space of 470 liters, whereas the 5-seater models of the C3 Aircross offer 444 liters. The Basalt comes with smaller 16-inch wheels, unlike the C3 Aircross with 17-inch wheels, and has a ground clearance that is 20mm lower at 180mm.

The issues that were missing in the C3 Aircross have been fixed in the Basalt. The best part is that these improvements have been added back to the C3 Aircross as well. Now, features like LED projector headlamps, automatic AC, power mirror controls, moving the power window buttons to the doors, a front sliding center armrest, and rear AC vents on the floor are now also offered in the C3 Aircross.
The Basalt model comes with some unique features. These include a wireless charger, adjustable thigh support in the back seats, and contoured headrests for rear passengers. In addition, Basalt’s dashboard has been upgraded with soft-touch materials. The C3 Aircross model has an added roof-mounted AC vent for the 7-seater versions.

Both the models have a 110hp, 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine. They come with either a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic gearbox. The Basalt provides a budget-friendly way to get started, featuring an 82hp naturally aspirated 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that only comes with a manual gearbox, Even though this engine isn’t at the top of its class in terms of specifications, it does help in keeping the Basalt’s initial cost affordable.
Both models are equipped with a 110hp, 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine. You can choose between a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic gearbox. The Basalt is starting strong, priced at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), which is a steal compared to rivals like the C3 Aircross, beginning at Rs 9.99 Lakh and peaking at Rs 14.27 Lakh for the top-tier Petrol model, a whopping Rs 2 lakh higher.
